What a first-year audit actually checks

A first-year audit is not a tour of every binder in the office. The team starts with cash, revenue cut-off, and who is related to whom. If those three hold, the rest of the file has a spine. If they do not, no amount of neat schedules will save the opinion.

Ask your auditor to show you the risk memo before fieldwork. If they cannot name the two or three things that would actually change the report, they are still filling templates.

AccountLed writes that memo in plain language and shares it with the client contact. Surprise at the wrap-up meeting is a process failure, not a sign of thoroughness.
