How to read a Pakistan tax notice

Most notices look louder than they are. Circle the issue date, the amount demanded or the information asked, and the section of the ordinance or rules cited. Those three facts decide the deadline and the file you need to open.

Do not answer a facts request with a legal essay, and do not answer an assessment with a folder of unsorted invoices. Match the response to the ask. If the notice is wrong on the facts, say so in one page and attach the proof.

We keep a calendar of open notices so a second letter from the same officer does not land in a different inbox. One owner per notice. That is the whole system.
